Peat begets muck,
muck begets sludge
begets bog begets bayou.
A delta island is self-contained
and self-sustaining,
busting its seams with
monsoon charity, filling its
hoppers, creepers,
slither-sliders,
with cornucopic plenty.
Thanksgiving on the bayou
is no different from that of man
in his cities
death by disease, famine,
and the bloodlust of the other.

A doomscape is painted and the photo is re-depicted with the peat-related words you used.
It is kinda strange to read a "bayou" poem by a "batousaijin" but in this case I think it works.
Fav words are "bayou" and "cornucopic" albeit cornucopic and plenty used together seems redundant to me.
I find the "other" in "the bloodlust of the other" a tone too vague.
Hope this's helpful and cheers for doing FF's prompt.
