Froggy Went a-Courtin' by ~batousaijin:iconbatousaijin:

Something compares to the panoramic view
This lonesome frog sees while thinking of you.

Flowing glass coats this frog’s eyes
With borrowed light from Autumn's skin.
This crippled frog blinks once and dives in.

Contractual commencement of living space
Yields obeisance to the robust serpent
Following this heartbroken frog into the deep.

“Caro ssapito, dá-me un besso.
Te llevaré al ssueño eterno.
Dear little frog, let me steal a kisss.
I’ll lead you away to unending blisss.”

Slick forked tongue caresses this frog sensually
As Sam moves serpentine and silently
Slips shafts of muscle around Froggy’s heart.

“Kisss me!” I shan’t, and I think you know why.
“I insisst, thiss Autumn pond issn’t helping my cold blood.”
Your shudder shows this crushed frog illusions, as in days of old.

Thirsting through skin, young Froggy gives in,
Osmotically savouring what he dove in.

This poem is for *MarchingStitch. She commented in my journal and requested a poem based on [link] . It ended up being more of a tribute to Ted Hughes's recurring poetic character, Crow. Sorry if I failed to live up to your expectations. The frog kinda just jumped out at me (pun intended) and made me write this poem. It is also inspired by ~YumeLenawawe's excellent poem cycle about an angel and a snake. [link] I couldn't get over how well she mixed death with seduction.

I am glad I have inspired!! This is certainly beautiful. Well done!

I love it! Your poems are so amazing! I love how you took your own inspriration and ran with it rather than just talking about a lake. And frogs and snakes are awesome no matter what your doing! ^_^ Thank you so much!

thanks for understanding even though it wasn't completely what you requested. i guess poems about lakes and daffodils and such were more up the romantics' alley. i'm serious, the frog came out of nowhere, and i realized that ted hughes did something similar with a crow named "Crow."

That is certaintly not true! They utilize two different styles. While the duel themes of death and seduction are both in play, both are written in a different manner that is trademark of the poet.

I was relieved actualy. I hate it when people say you should write about this or draw a picture of that, you receive inspiration from where ever you get it from! That photo was amazing to! :wow:

Love it! This poem combines a wonderful use of vocabulary and rhythm with an amusingly gruesome sense of humor... these are qualities that always appeal to me – I smiled all the way through. The inclusion of Spanish dialog is a nicely exotic touch... highly creative fun, just terrific work!
